Khujirt's mineral springs have drawn travelers, healers, and pilgrims for centuries — long before wellness became an industry, and long before anyone tried to explain why hot mineral water emerging from volcanic rock can restore the human body in ways that rest alone cannot.
The springs are real. The science behind them is documented. The results are felt.
This seven-day journey combines central Mongolia's open landscapes and historical landmarks with three full days of focused thermal treatment at Khan Khujirt Resort — one of the country's most respected spa facilities, set in a quiet valley that has been healing people since the 17th century.
It is not a journey built around constant movement. It is built around balance — time spent traveling, followed by time spent recovering. A different way of experiencing Mongolia. A different way of returning home.
Three full days of mineral spring therapy at Khan Khujirt Resort — sulphate-chloride-sodium baths, mud therapy, and physical treatment

Travel Type: Overland + wellness
Best Season: May–October. Open year-round at Khujirt

From Ulaanbaatar, the route travels west into open steppe — reaching Khustai National Park within 90 minutes. The evening wildlife drive here, when wild horses descend from the hills, is one of central Mongolia's most quietly powerful experiences.
Day 2 moves northwest to Elsen Tasarkhai — an unexpected stretch of sand dunes rising from grassland — before continuing to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. Erdene Zuu Monastery stands here, built from the stones of the fallen capital, its walls enclosing centuries of Buddhist history.
Day 3 is a short drive south to Khujirt. The Orkhon Valley surrounds the route — a UNESCO World Heritage landscape that has shaped Mongolian civilization for over two thousand years. Check-in at Khan Khujirt Resort, medical consultation, and the beginning of the healing phase.
Three days in the valley. Treatment in the mornings and afternoons, rest between, mountain air throughout.
Day 7 returns to Ulaanbaatar via Orkhon Waterfall — where the river drops 20 meters through a volcanic gorge shaped by ancient lava flows.
